An international typographic project CopernicusPress 2022
This is the third edition of the international typographical project. The previous two were held under the title of LemPress and were devoted to the work and memory of Stanislaw Lem. As part of the project, the artists create posters prepared by traditional printing techniques using wooden and metal fonts. Previous editions have shown that black paint, composition and manual printing are sufficient to convey timeless thoughts, ideas, words, signs. This year we invite print studios to create posters related to the activities of Mikolaj Kopernik, whose 550 th birthday is due in 2023.
The aim of the project is to draw attention to the values associated with traditional printing, letter, history and the promotion of lost crafts, such as warehousing and manual printing techniques. In the third edition we refer to the 550 th anniversary of the birth of Mikolaj Kopernik – an astronom, a revolutionist, a genius, an outstanding student, a Renaissance man – which is in 2023.
„Young Copernicus” is an exhibition accompanying an international typographical project. It consists the works of students of the Państwowe Liceum Plastyczne in Olsztyn and the Bielska Szkoła Przemysłowa in Bielsko-Biala.
